FRIENDSHIP SLOOP
This project started as an exploration into opening up the interior of a 1949 friendship sloop and converting the vessel into as open a space as possible, allowing flexibility for a variety of practical uses and accommodations. As a starting point, this design exercise required accurately measuring and digitally modeling the complete existing exterior of the vessel, as shown in these renderings. This effectively began to convey what the spartan interior of the vessel would resemble without partitions, ceiling, and other interior features with exception to purely structural members. Although this project was not realized beyond renderings, it led to Forcola Boatworks being commissioned to design and build the Tomales Bay Boat and other projects.
