PEDAL BOAT
This very unique vessel designed by Antrim Associates is propelled solely by human pedal power and its electronics run exclusively off solar power. Forcola Boatworks was hired to complete the building of this highly custom boat, starting with a hull and structural interior expertly fabricated by Left Coast Composites. Our responsibilities included:
- Complete installation of all electrical and instrument systems, including both 12V and 24V lithium battery banks
- Installation of solar panels and charging system
- Work closely with client, Naval Architect, pedal drive mechanical engineer Brooks Dees, and pedal drive component fabricator Merrick Cheney, to coordinate pedal drive system build
- Installation of pedal drive system on boat and testing it underway
- Design and fabrication of various custom interior components including adjustable swing-out chartplotter mount, delrin daggerboard control lines, solar charge controller mounts, and incidental carbon fiber work
- Installation of all hatches, portlights, hardware, daggerboards, antenna mounts, instrument hardware, and plumbing systems
- Design and install temporary recumbent seat and seatbelt
- Various rigging work in collaboration with Rogue Rigging
- Preparation and coordination of exterior painting by Berkeley Marine Center
- Leveling boat on stands and accurately marking designed waterline for bottom painting
- Interior painting
